Boringdon Primary School Music Statement Intent: Music plays an important role in school life, providing children with opportunities to develop confidence, creativity and performance skills. Through weekly music lessons following the Charanga scheme, pupils learn to sing, play instruments and perform using a range of musical styles and genres. Children experience whole-class instrumental tuition, including recorder, ukulele and samba drumming, and regularly take part in performances for peers, parents and the wider community. Beyond the classroom, pupils can further develop their musical talents through opportunities such as Rocksteady band lessons, seasonal choirs and participation in local music events including the Big Sing concert. Weekly singing assemblies and our Music of the Month initiative expose children to a broad range of genres and cultures, fostering a lifelong appreciation of music. We are committed to continually enhancing our music provision, with plans to expand live performance opportunities and introduce more exposure to classical music, ensuring every child can experience the joy and benefits of making music.
